For as long as I can remember, a flagship evangelistic event that we host in New Jersey is “Pizza and God.” The idea is simple: Cru buys and serves free pizza while hosting an open discussion about spiritual opinions and God. Furthermore, as Christians, we let our student guests know explicitly that this is not a debate and that we want to hear their opinions on everything! At the end of the discussion, though, we always clearly explain the gospel.
Well this semester we not only hosted several of these events across the state, but at one in particular, we were able to film it! I’m grateful to have been part of this film project at Middlesex County College along with the help of an awesome Rutgers alumnus.
The 5-minute video will be debuted during our 30-minute virtual ministry “dinner” on Saturday, April 18, at 7:30 pm. We encourage you to register but you can also simply go to www.jerseymetro.com/dinner. We will also post it later below this post.
For you busybodies, though, we thought you’d be encouraged to read from the many students who shared that day.

Joshua Rubio, an agnostic shared, “I was always on the fence about everything. It’s definitely moving, and there’s definitely no reason why you shouldn’t believe it.”
Dharti Thaker, a Hindu student from India shared: “I totally understand if you’re a Christian, you believe in Jesus and he is the God for you. What I don’t like about Christianity is that they say there is only one God and there are no other Gods.”
Chris Anyawu, who grew up up in church, after hearing the gospel at the end, said, “I couldn’t understand what God felt from his own perspective until today. Now I understand why he sent me here on earth. Now I really have a greater understanding of the Lord.”

Praise the Lord for this Pizza & God and many more to come! As for a QUARANTINE update, like many churches, thankfully all our movements have gone virtual. Many even have more than the weekly Bible studies. Cru has also allowed for staff to take online classes during this time, so we are keeping busy, but of course we are staying home. Pray for Jenn as she carries the weight of suddenly home-schooling and pray for the kids as it’s a tough adjustment for them as well! Pray also for the ministry to think of new online evangelistic ideas. Our Bible studies and prayer meetings are going well but digital evangelism is more difficult than these.
THANK YOU! Please let us know how we can pray for you!
