God Did It! First Evangelistic Dinner in Milan A Success

Hey friends. I know I said I would likely not send over an update until after our return, but our first dinner was a success — we could not keep this to ourselves !!

Alongside my cousin’s local church, we saw God really push promotion all week in-person at various universities, as well as online through instagram. The restaurant was super accommodating helping us plan a menu that respects its Italian roots but could accommodate various dietary and religious preferences. It was also super helpful to not have to worry about serving the food or handling utensils etc.

By God’s grace we had a full room of 35 very social international students and volunteers.

Ultimately we had 59 students registered from 8 universities, 13 countries and 5 religious backgrounds (mostly Hindu and Muslim). Out of that number, 25 students showed up in-person and were so thankful and ready to socialize and see what we were about. Different members of our awesome team led in welcoming, led games, led music and more. Jenn and the kids helped host and handle giveaways, and I had the privilege of sharing the gospel. Our team was truly blessed; they have never done any kind of ministry like this before and we are hopeful the seeds of international student ministry are being planted for the future in Milan !!

We personally already have a follow up with a Hindu background student who commuted 1.5 hours by train just for this dinner–evidence that there is a international student community yearning for friendship and connection. He specifically indicated on his form that he wants to learn more about Christianity “one-on”one.” Pray for this follow up with “Sheldon” (Pseudonym) for privacy. The whole family is going to treat him to lunch.

Please keep praying for dinner #2 on July 11 and #3 on July 18 in addition to continued on-campus prayer walks, promotion and personal or team follow-up with students. Pray the Holy Spirit moves in power and these precious souls truly understand who Jesus is and why he came! Pray for new life!

It actually happened !! God did it !! I know we are supposed to step out in faith expecting — and of course we did just that, but we are just over-the-moon that all the preparation led to such a successful seed-planting time. Thank you for your prayers!

  1. Thanks for sharing, Joey. This is wonderful news. I’m so thankful you heard God’s call and did all in your human power, but still relying on God’s Spirit to draw students to Him. I loved seeing the pictures. Hopefully this is just the start of an awesome new ministry in Milan.

    Praise God,
