Sex and the Cross of Christ

“You haven’t had sex yet?!” a classmate of mine asked in the 7th grade, chuckling at my poor virgin plight.

I (Joey) turned as red as a tomato, worried others would hear me say, “No.”

I was not seriously seeking the Lord until about a year later, but the consequences and reality of sex and sexual sin were bombarding me like an outnumbered zebra amid a pride of lions.

It is no different in college.

There is certainly peer (and physical) pressure to fornicate. Identity can easily be wrapped in the number of partners one has or does not have. A definition for godly sex exists, but the masses laugh at it. We’re in a culture where 1/4 of girls and 1/6 of boys are molested, orientation is confused, and sex is seen as casual as a handshake. It is no wonder so many believe sexual lies.

And there stands the Bible, passionately declaring: there is grace and forgiveness and new life and right definition and identity! All from a Great Father who has proven His love by sending His Son, Jesus, to live perfectly, die brutally and rise victoriously.

We recently had several opportunities to minister to students who’ve committed sexual sin or have been sexually abused. We don’t take this lightly. Our approach, starts with the previous paragraph: JESUS. He’s the only person to have lived perfectly with regard to sex, and in light of His grace, there is love and forgiveness in which we can speak about these issues.

(FOR DISCRETIONARY PURPOSES, WE HAVE CHOSEN TO KEEP THE ACTUAL STORIES OFF OUR BLOG, WHICH IS ON THE WORLD WIDE WEB. WE WILL EMAIL THE PDF FILE TO YOU, THOUGH. IF YOU’RE NOT ON OUR EMAIL LIST, JUST ASK, AND WE’LL PUT YOU THERE.)

We love you all! Thank you for investing monthly and praying consistently, so Jesus can continue to us us!
