They Keep Coming Back

A lot has happened since our last prayer letter! Praise God that once again we are seeing consistently high involvement at our main Friday dinners on campus, an average of 70 students plus all volunteers! Once again we are getting mostly non-believers who have returned week after week and stay for the whole night even though we are sharing the gospel through literal readings and discussions from the scriptures! It’s awesome! Please pray for deep powerful change in our students’ hearts and minds – for them to see Christ as he wants to be seen

We are also thankful for three off-campus opportunities that were well attended. Once a month we organize a field trip to somewhere special. On January 31, we took students snowtubing at Camp Gaw Mountain in Mahwah. It was a fun friendship-building time. Afterwards a partner church provided lunch! Jenn and the kids came as well! Secondly, on SuperBowl Sunday, several hosts took in a couple dozen students to enjoy the game. Students not only appreciate when we learn about and honor their culture, but when they get a chance to enjoy American culture as well!

Getting off campus and especially into Christian homes is a major value of ours, which is why our third off-campus opportunity was our monthly “home groups.” We hosted our first home group on Friday February 13th. Instead of meeting on campus, students split up into smaller groups in the homes of staff, volunteers and Christian students. Of course ours was one of them! In total we had over 50 students split into 5 homes. In addition to this, because our Mandarin-speaking community is so big, there are no local homes that can accommodate them, so those 25 or so students stayed on campus.

Speaking of our Mandarin-community, because it was the Chinese New Year on Tuesday, February 17th, the Chinese church that partners with us wanted to do something extra special on Friday 2/20. They brought in performers to celebrate the new year as a way to promote our ministry to Mandarin-speaking international students and others as well! We had so many students (about 150) that we had to split into two rooms when eating! Praise God for this fun opportunity. Dozens of international students that had not known about us got to hear from us about what we regularly do. Please pray they return again and again.

Thank you for your partnership in the gospel!!
